Freaks (Tod Browning - 1932)
We accept you, one of us! Gooble Gobble!
This movie is 80 years old this year, and it is also 50 years since Tod Browning’s death. Toying with the idea of doing a big blogging celebration of Freaks in October.

A makeshift table was constructed and the cast of “Freaks” (with the exception of Harry and Daisy Earles, Violet and Daisy Hilton, and the more “normal” cast-members) were forced to eat their meals outdoors.
This is true. The other patrons in the MGM cafeteria complained that the sight of the Freaks cast made them too nauseated to eat. I thought this story was apocryphal until I found an actual photograph in the AMPAS archives of the entire cast seated at their makeshift outdoor canteen. There actually was no table, they just had wooden benches to sit on. Not gonna lie, finding that photo made me cry.
Prince Randian, the man with no arms or legs, developed a habit of lurking in dark corners and frightening passers-by with a blood-curdling yell.
He also had five children and spoke four languages.
